The Belgian second division side have announced the loan signing of the 20-year-old defender of Ghanaian origin from his German parent club until the end of the current campaign

Belgium-born Ghanaian centre-back Ibrahim Digberekou has joined Belgian Challenger Pro League side KSC Lokeren from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach on a season-long loan deal, the club have confirmed.

The enterprising defender is joining the Tricolores on a loan basis until the end of the 2025-26 football season as he is set to continue with his development as a rising star.

An official statement over the loan deal of the Ghana-prospect read on the club's official media: ''Sporting Lokeren has secured the signing of the Belgian defender from the East Cantons, Ibrahim Digberekou (20). The right-footed central defender, who can also play as a right-back, is on loan from German side Borussia Mönchengladbach.

''Digberekou trained at Borussia Mönchengladbach and gained experience as a youth international with the Belgian U19s. With his height and physical strength, he brings added stability and competitiveness to our defense.

''Welcome to Daknam, Ibrahim!''

He penned a two-year contract extension with his current employers before sealing his season-long loan this summer.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, Digberekou is still eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana on the international stage despite featuring for the Belgian national youth teams.
