The German giants have secured the services of the 22-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent from the English outfit in this ongoing transfer window
English-born Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah has joined Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen from Premier League side Liverpool on a five-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The promising centre-back, who was also on the wanted list of fellow English top-flight rivals Newcastle United, has finally sealed his move to the BayArena campaigners following months of speculation over his future with the current English champions.
''Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the England U21 international and European champion Jarell Quansah. The central defender joins Leverkusen from Premier League champions Liverpool on a contract to 30 June 2030,'' an official confirmation read.
Quansah said right after putting pen to paper on the deal with his new employers, telling his club's official website: '' was able to get a good impression of the team and the club when Liverpool played Leverkusen in the Champions League last season. A brilliant team – for the first hour they played like almost no other side at Anfield," declared the 22-year-old. “The ambitious targets here were clearly explained to me during the negotiations. It's a great role and challenge for me to be part of the current Leverkusen rebuild.''
Sporting director Simon Rolfes added: ''We are very happy to be been able to sign Jarell Quansah, one of the most promising English central defenders. He made a very impressive contribution to a Liverpool defence full of world-class players. Jarell will give our defence extra dynamism, tempo and strength in winning the ball and he will also be another, very important element of the Werkself of the future.''
Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the England national youth teams.
