The 23-year-old midfielder of Ghanaian descent has completed his transfer move to the English second tier side in this current transfer window

German-born Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Kyerewaa has joined League One club Reading FC in an undisclosed period of contract, the club have confirmed.

The talented youngster, who was also on the radar of German second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf, is joining the Madejski Stadium campaigners on a free transfer after leaving 2. Bundesliga side Preußen Münster this summer.

An official statement over the capturing of the Ghana-prospect attacking midfielder read: ''Reading Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Daniel Kyerewaa ahead of the 2025/26 season.

''The 23-year-old midfielder joins the Royals from Preußen Münster, having previously spent time with Schalke 04 II and Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany.

''Kyerewaa was born in Düsseldorf — a city proudly twinned with Reading — and began his senior career with Schalke’s second team in 2020. His performances earned him two first-team call-ups during Schalke’s 2021/22 promotion-winning campaign in the 2. Bundesliga.

''In 2022/23, he enjoyed a strong season at reserve level — scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists in 32 appearances. He moved to 3. Liga side Preußen Münster in May 2023.''

Head coach Noel Hunt said of his new man on his club's website: ''Daniel is a really exciting addition to our group. He’s got a great engine, he’s creative, and he’s played in a strong development environment in Germany. We believe he’s got the tools and the drive to make a big impact here.”

Kyerewaa had a magnificent season with Preußen Münster after netting 3 and assisting 1 in 21 games across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Düsseldorf-born midfielder still remains eligible to switch nationality allegiance and represent Ghana on the international stage as he's yet to be cap-tied by the Germany national team.
