The 22-year-old midfielder of Ghanaian descent has completed his transfer switch to the German Fourth-Tier outfit in this current winter transfer window
German-born Ghanaian midfielder Joel Ampadu Wiafe has joined German Regionalliga Nordost (IV) side FC Eilenburg on a one-and-a-half-year deal, the club have announced.
The former FC Speyer 09 U19 youth star is linking up with the Ilburg-Stadion campaigners from fellow league rivals Würzburger Kickers this January.
Right after inking his deal, the Ghanaian midfielder had this to say via the club's facebook account: ''l am very grateful to the Würzburger Kickers for the response to the transfer. In order to develop further, I have to play. I see this opportunity for myself in Eilenburg. I know from my brother that the Regionalliga in the northeast is a very good league.''
Sporting director Stephan Hofmann added: ''Joel has signed a contract for the next one and a half playing seasons regardless of the playing classes. He embodies the type of player that we don't have in the team yet and will make us more difficult to reckon with.''
Joel is the sibling of Borussia Mönchengladbach ll midfielder Leon Ampadu. Both are born to a Ghanaian father and German mother in the city of Mannheim, Germany.
They still remain eligible to switch nationality allegiance to play for Ghana on the international stage given their Ghanaian parentage.
