The German third-tier outfit have announced the signing of the promising midfielder of Ghanaian descent in this current transfer market ahead of the next term campaign
German-born Ghanaian midfielder Leon Ampadu has joined 3. Liga club SV Sandhausen from Borussia Mönchengladbach II on a one-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The 23-year-old is linking up with the Hardtwaldstadion campaigners on a permanent basis ahead of the start of the 2025-26 football season.
''With Leon Ampadu, SV Sandhausen has signed a central midfielder who already knows the region well. The 23-year-old will move to Hardtwald for the 2025/26 season,'' an official statement over the capturing of the youngster read.
Ampadu expressed his excitement right after putting pen to paper on the deal with his new employers via the club's official website: ''I'm very excited about the opportunity at SV Sandhausen," said Ampadu. "I'm from the area, have watched many of SVS's games, and now I want to contribute to the team's development.''
Head coach Olaf Janßen added: ''Leon is a robust, hard-working player with a very good sense of space. He knows the demands of the Regionalliga and brings the mentality we need to achieve our goals. I see a lot of potential for development in him and look forward to taking him to the next level."
He had an impressive outing with Borussia Mönchengladbach II after featuring in 30 games across all competitions in the just ended 2024-25 campaign.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Mannheim-born star remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage as he is yet to be cap-tied by the Die Mannschaft.
