The 25-year-old winger of Ghanaian descent has completed his move to the German fourth tier campaigners ahead of the upcoming football season

Regionalliga Nordost club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian winger Raphael Assibey-Mensah on a two-year contract.

The former Mainz O5 U19 youth star is joining the Erfurt-based club on a free transfer deal after the expiration of his contract with fellow lower division side FC Bocholt this summer.

An excerpt of official confirmation over Raphael capturing read: ''FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt continues to push ahead with squad planning for the coming season and can present Raphael Assibey Mensah as their next new signing. The 25-year-old attacker is moving from regional league club 1. FC Bocholt to the state capital of Thuringia and has signed a two-year contract until summer 2027.''

Sporting director Franz Gerber was left touting the qualities of the 25-year-old after landing his signature in this current transfer market, telling his club's official website: ''Raphael is a player with an exceptional sense for dangerous situations. He is technically adept, versatile in attack, and, with his goal threat, brings exactly the qualities we were looking for. We are delighted to have secured Raphael and warmly welcome him."

He figured in 30 games by netting 11 times and assisting 10 for FC Bocholt across all competitions in the just ended football season.

Given his Ghanaian origin, the Leipzig-born winger still remains eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage as he is yet to be cap-tied by the Die Mannschaft.
