The 25-year-old winger of Ghanaian descent has appended his signature to a fresh term with the German Fouth-Tier outfit, with the new deal set to expire in June 2026
German-born Ghanaian winger Phillip Aboagye has signed a one-year contract extension with German Regionalliga Nordost side FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , the club have announced.
The former VfL Bochum youth star was handed his new deal by the Steigerwaldstadion outfit after amassing the number of the required games he needed to play in his initial deal on a short-term basis in this ongoing campaign.
An official confirmation over his contract extension read: ''FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt is pleased to announce that the contract of attacker Phillip Aboagye has been automatically extended for another year. This is based on a contractual clause that stipulates an extension once the player has completed a certain number of competitive matches. Since Phillip has reached this target, the 25-year-old left winger will remain with the club until June 30, 2026.''
''Phillip Aboagye moved from Regionalliga club SC Wiedenbrück to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt for the 2024/2025 season and originally signed a contract until June 30, 2025. In the current Regionalliga Nordost season, he has played in 21 matches for FC RWE, scoring six goals and providing three assists.''
Manager Fabian Gerber expressed his happiness after tying down the Ghana-prospect winger on a fresh term, telling his club's official website: ''We are very pleased that Phillip will be part of our team again next season. His versatility and commitment on the pitch are of great value to us. The fact that he has secured an extension through his appearances underscores his importance to our team."
Aboagye has so far been involved in 22 games by netting 6 and assisting 3 across all competitions for FC Rot-Weiß Erfur in this current 20240-25 football season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Dortmund-born wideman still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage.
