German-born left-back Derrick Kohn has sealed a permanent switch to Union Berlin from Turkish giants Galatasaray, marking the next significant step in his career.
The 26-year-old joins the Bundesliga side for a reported fee just under €5 million, with Union banking on his pace, energy, and attacking drive down the left flank as they gear up for the new season.
Kohn is already well-acquainted with German football, having spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Werder Bremen. During that spell, he featured in 30 Bundesliga matches and impressed with his athleticism and offensive contributions, leaving a strong impression that caught Union Berlin’s attention.
His football journey began at Hamburger SV’s academy before a 2017 move to Bayern Munich, where he excelled for the U-23 side. From there, Kohn ventured abroad to the Netherlands with Willem II, later returning to Germany to play for Hannover 96. In 2023, he made the move to Galatasaray, before being loaned to Bremen in February 2024, where he scored on his Bundesliga debut against Mainz.
Now back in the German capital, Kohn is eager to establish himself as a key figure for Union Berlin as they aim to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
