The English top-flight giants have announced the loan signing of the Ghanaian defender ahead of the closure of this January  transfer window

English Premier League side Tottenham have signed Austrian-born Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens on loan, with an option of making the deal permanent upon its expiration at the end of the current football season, the club have confirmed.

The former FC Augsburg stopper, who was also a chief transfer target for fellow elite division rivals Wolves this winter, is set to complete the rest of the 2024-25 season with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium campaigners in the English top-flight.

An excerpt of an official confirmation over the loan deal of the 26-year-old read: ''We are delighted to announce the signing of Kevin Danso on loan from Ligue 1 side RC Lens, subject to international clearance and work permit.''

''The Austria international defender will join the Club on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer. He will wear the number four shirt.''

Danso is not new to the English top-tier competition after having a loan stint with Southampton during the 2019-20 football season.

Before sealing his transfer loan switch, he featured in 12 league games for RC Lens in this current French Ligue 1 2024-25 football campaign.

Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Austria, Danso remains ineligible to represent Ghana at the international level as he's been cap-tied by the Austrian senior national team.
