The German third-tier outfit have signed the 25-year-old stopper of Ghanaian origin in this current summer transfer window

German-born Ghanaian centre-back Kwabe Schulz has joined German 3.Liga side FC Viktoria Köln, the club have confirmed.

The 1.89m tall defender is joining the Sportpark Höhenberg campaigners on a free transfer ahead of the new football season.

An official confirmation over the signing of the ex-FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin U19 man reads; "Viktoria Köln is strengthening its defense with Kwabe Schulz for the coming season. The 25-year-old comes from Rot-Weiß Erfurt. Schulz feels comfortable both in central defense and in the left-back position."

Schulz had this to tell his new employers right after putting pen to paper on the deal, telling the club's official website; "I want to prove what I can do right away. My game is based on physicality, speed and toughness in duels. The team has welcomed me really well and I feel really comfortable here. I can hardly wait for things to get started!"

He added ahead of his debut season in the German third division contest next term; "I'm not too worried about the new league. The fact that the pace in the 3rd division is faster than in the regional league is not a problem. I fit in well there. For the preparation, it is important that we stay injury-free and grow as a team. Then we can have the best possible season."

Sporting director Stephan Küsters exudes confidence in the qualities of the Ghanaian defender right after securing his services; "Kwabe was a guest player at the last test and made a lasting impression. We've had him on our list since last year. When we observed Sidny Lopes Cabral, he caught our eye in an extremely positive way. That's why we're happy that he has now decided to join Viktoria."

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he remains qualified to represent Ghana at the international level.
