The 29-year-old defender of Ghanaian heritage has completed his move to the German fourth-tier outfit ahead of the transfer deadline day
German-born Ghanaian centre-back Steffen Nkansah has joined Regionalliga Südwest side FC 08 Homburg on a two-year contract, the club have confirmed.
The ex-TSG 1899 Hoffenheim U17 star is linking up with the Waldstadion Homburg campaigners on a free transfer after leaving Bundesliga 3 club FC Erzgebirge Aue this summer.
A portion of an official statement confirming the signing of the Ghanaian defender read: ''Our FC 08 Homburg is pleased to welcome an experienced new addition to its ranks. Steffen Nkansah, who has already made 165 appearances in the 3rd division, joins our Green-Whites in central defense. The 29-year-old, who most recently played for third-division side FC Erzgebirge Aue, joins our FCH and signs a contract until June 2027.''
Nkansah said after sealing his move to his new employers via the club's official media: ''I'm looking forward to my time in Homburg. We're a good team and have set ourselves ambitious goals to be successful together.''
Sporting director Roland Seitz added: ''With his experience of nearly 170 third-division matches, Steffen is a valuable addition to our defense. We are very happy that he wants to continue our journey with us.''
The Munster-born guardsman is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international level having featured for the Germany U16, U17, U18 & U19 national youth teams.
