The experienced defender has put pen to paper on fresh terms with the Swedish top-flight returnees until the next two football seasons in this winter transfer window

Swedish Allsvenskan side Halmstads BK have announced a two-year contract extension deal with Ghanaian right-back Thomas Boakye, with the former Right to Dream academy product set to stay at the Örjans Vall Stadium until Dec 31, 2024.

Having established himself as an integral figure in manager Magnus Haglund's set-up, the Halmstads-based club have resolved to tie him down to fresh terms ahead of the start of the 2023 football campaign.

Right after inking the new deal, the man in charge of affairs in the dugout was left speaking highly of his experienced defender given his versatility in his charges' midst.

"Thomas has been here for a number of seasons and had a strong contribution on the pitch as he can play in different roles. A player with speed and physique who is constantly developing year by year. He is also a valued teammate. So all of this together makes it feel good to extend with Thomas," the Swede gaffer told his club's communications network.

Boakye joined Halmstads BK in January 2018 on a free transfer deal.

He is still eligible to switch allegiance to represent Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the England U-18 national youth team.
