American Major League Soccer (MLS) side Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced the signing of ltalian-born Ghanaian attacker Emmanuel Sabbi from French Ligue 1 side Le Havre AC on a two-year contract, with an option for extension to a further year upon the expiration of the deal.

The former Hobro lK man is joining the BC Place Stadium outfit ahead of the start of the 2025 football season in the American elite division campaign.

An excerpt of an official confirmation over the capturing of the one-time capped United States men’s national team read:''Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired forward Emmanuel Sabbi via transfer from Ligue 1 side Le Havre AC. The American international agreed to a contract through 2027, with a club option for 2028. Sabbi will officially join the club’s Major League Soccer roster pending receipt of his international transfer certificate.''

Sabbi had this to say to his new employers right after sealing his transfer move this winter, telling the club's official website: ''This opportunity with Whitecaps FC is an exciting new chapter in my journey, and I couldn't be more thrilled! I know that God's plan for me is bigger than my own choices, and I'm trusting in the process every step of the way.'' He added: "I'm beyond excited to give my all for this team, the amazing fans, and the incredible city of Vancouver. I can't wait to be part of it, both on and off the field!''

Sporting director Axel Schuster added: ''

“Emmanuel is an experienced attacking player who has played in one of the best leagues in the world. He’ll add another dimension to our attack, and he is capable of playing on either wing or up top. We’re excited to welcome Emmanuel to our club.”

Before severing ties with Le Havre, he figured in 49 games by netting 5 goals and assisting 1 across all competitions in the French top-flight spanning across two seasons.

Born to Ghanaian parents in ltaly, Sabbi remains fit to play for Ghana on the international stage despite figuring once for the United States men’s national team.
