The Dutch giants' chief feels it would have been a misplaced priority for his side had they sanctioned the loan deal of the 22-year-old to suitors during the winter transfer window

Ajax sporting director Alex Kroes has said his Ghanaian striker Brian Brobbey was a transfer target for ''all sorts of clubs'' as they tried to secure his services on a loan basis in the just-ended transfer window.

The former RB Leipzig attacker saw a move away from the Johan Cruyff Arena campaigners mooted, with French and English top-flight clubs such as West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Olympique Marseille all being linked with his services during the January transfer window.

However, confirming the interest from the above-mentioned suitors, the man in charge of the upper echelon of the Dutch Eredivisie heavyweights has stated that it was a hopeless priority for those admirers vying for his signature as they were not in any position to let him go this winter.

''All sorts of clubs wanted to rent him [Brian Brobbey],'' the Dutch football administrator told Ajax TV. He continued; ''Brian and I were in complete agreement from the very first minute: renting is hopeless," Kroes explains. "I was able to tell those clubs very quickly that we were not interested and the player was not interested either. Good luck with it and find someone else. I am very happy that he stayed."

Brobbey has so far netted 4 goals and assisted 7 in 32 games across all competitions for Ajax in this ongoing 2024-25 football campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he remains unfit to play for Ghana on the international stage as he has been cap-tied by The Netherlands national team.
