The talented winger of Ghanaian heritage, whose promising career has been blighted by injuries, says he is not finished yet as he still has more time ahead of him to reach his full potential

Belgian-born Ghanaian youngster Pierre Dwomoh has declared that his ''professional career isn't over at 21'' as he works his way back to much fitness ahead of a possible move to suitors in the summer.

The promising youngster endured a turbulent time with an injury-ridden career at English Championship side Watford after  joining up with them from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2024.

Speaking in an interview, the Ghana-prospect target is confident of returning back to his best now that he is working on his physical fitness given his health conditions.

''Things always turn out well. I am confident. My professional career isn't over at 21, you know,'' the 21-year-old nimble footed player said of his promising career to Het Nieuwsblad: ''I look to the future with optimism. And I am not afraid to take a step back. I did that before at KV Oostende and subsequently at RWDM (where he was back on track in the 23-24 season, ed.). My footballing qualities will always come to the fore, wherever that may be.”

The former Anderlecht youth star has also shed light about his time with the former Premier League side after parting ways with them early this year.

''Watford is – even though it is an English second-division club – a big club. If you are injured, they simply buy someone else,” says Dwomoh, outlining the situation. “My competitor Nampalys Mendy – formerly of Leicester City – did his absolute best. I just had to accept that.”

''I stepped down for family reasons – which I do not wish to pursue. From early January to early March, I was not involved with football. I want to thank Watford for being understanding.”

Given his physical fitness, Dwomoh couldn't make the grade when he was assessed by Dutch Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen. However, he remains hopeful of landing himself a deal at the Abe Lenstra Stadion once he regains his full fitness in the summer.

''I know coach Robin Veldman from the time he coached the RSCA Futures. We have always been open to a potential collaboration,'' the ex-KRC Genk U18 star underscored. ''Given the number of professional matches I have already played (just under seventy, ed.), I don’t think we can still speak of a test or trial period. Heerenveen wanted to see if I fit into the club’s project. I was to train with the group. A potential contract was never discussed. That had to become clear at a later stage.''

''Because of this, I couldn't step in immediately. I went to Heerenveen, but I am currently working with my physio in Antwerp until my body is ready to join Heerenveen. Right now, I mainly want to get back to top fitness, to embark on a new adventure in the summer,'' he concluded.

The Mechelen-born talented attacking midfielder is still eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage despite featuring for the Belgium national youth teams.
