Ghana forward Benjamin Tetteh produced a brilliant final-day performance to help NK Maribor secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aluminij in the Slovenian PrvaLiga on Saturday.
The 28-year-old came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact, registering a goal and an assist as Maribor ended their league campaign on a winning note.
After Ali Reghba gave Maribor an early lead in the seventh minute, Tetteh was introduced with 30 minutes remaining and quickly influenced the contest. The former Ghana U-20 striker set up Tai Primic for the hosts’ second goal before adding his own name to the scoresheet two minutes from time.
His strike took his tally for the season to 12 league goals, enough to finish as the joint top scorer in the Slovenian top flight alongside Celje forward Nikita Iosifov.
Tetteh also contributed eight assists during the campaign, underlining his importance in Maribor’s attack despite the club enduring a disappointing season that saw them finish fifth in the league standings.
The strong finish could boost the Ghanaian’s hopes of earning a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Carlos Queiroz expected to announce his final selection in the coming days.
