The Austrian top-flight campaigners have announced the signing of the 25-year-old forward on a free transfer deal in this summer transfer window

Ghanaian forward Kelvin Boateng has joined Austrian Bundesliga side FK Austria Wien on a four-year contract, the club have confirmed.

The Right to Dream academy product has been an outstanding figure at First Vienna FC in the Austrian second division contest since joining them from Slovakian elite division side Spartak Trnava in 2023.

''Austria Vienna have finalised their first transfer for the 2025/26 season with Kelvin Boateng. The 25-year-old striker moves from Vienna to the Verteilerkreis and signs a four-year contract with the Violets,'' an official statement read.

''Since moving to First Vienna FC in the summer of 2023, the Ghanaian has scored 21 goals in 43 second division games, scoring 11 times for the blue and yellows in the 2024/25 season. The speedy attacker has already made one appearance at the Generali-Arena in the recent past: On 16 August 2024, he scored in a 2:2 draw against Austrias cooperation club SV Stripfing to make it 2:1 for Vienna. In future, the new signing is set to score goals in a violet kit.''

Right after appending his signature to the deal, the Ghanaian striker had this to tell his new employers via the club's official website: ''I decided to move to Austria Vienna because the club had been really keen on me for a long time. The people in charge have followed my progress and have always been in dialogue with me. I can hardly wait to get to know my team-mates and get started here!’'

Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner added: ''In Kelvin, we have been able to acquire a fast, athletic striker who we had been focussing on for some time due to his performances. He should make our attacking play even more flexible with his physicality and depth.''

He figured in 20 games by netting 12 goals and assisting 1 for Vienna across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign albeit his ankle injury setback in the middle of the just ended season.

With his fine form in the Austrian football competitions, Boateng could soon become an integral member of the Ghana Senior Men's National Team at the international level.
