The former Accra Lions midfielder has completed his transfer move to the Slovakian top-flight giants, with his new deal set to expire in 2029
Ghanaian youngster Rahim Ibrahim has joined Slovak First Football League side ŠK Slovan Bratislava from league rivals AS Trenčín on a four-year contract, the club have confirmed.
The 23-year-old is linking up with the Sky Blues after catching the eyes of the Slovakian heavyweights in the Nike Liga during his time with the Sihot Stadium campaigners.
An excerpt of an official confirmation over the signing of the Ghana U20 star read: ''After a long-term effort, finally a blue one. Rahim Ibrahim is moving from AS Trenčín to ŠK Slovan Bratislava. The most successful Slovak club has signed a four-year contract with the 23-year-old footballer. Part of the agreement is also the loan of Artur Gajdoš to Trenčín until the end of the 2024/25 season.''
The talented attacking midfielder expressed his excitement right after sealing his transfer move this winter, telling the club's official website: ''I am very excited to play for Slovan Bratislava. It has always been an experience for me when I played at Tehelné pol, the stadium is really beautiful. I want to fight for my place in the strong competition that Slovan has and please the fans. I prefer to play in the number eight position in the midfield with offensive and defensive roles, I also try to support the team's offensive efforts. I really appreciate that Slovan wanted me, and I want to give my best.''
Sporting director Ivan Kmotrík Jr added: ''I am really happy that we managed to secure the transfer of Rahim Ibrahim. We have been interested in him for a long time, again he is a player who is proven by our competition. I would like to emphasize that we have once again managed to find common ground with Trenčín on the terms of the transfer, which I perceive extremely positively. In the past, we have encountered problems in this area in Slovakia, I am all the more pleased that Trenčín approached the negotiations professionally and we also found agreement on the transfer fee.''
He continued; ''We have been following Rahim Ibrahim for a long time. In him, we are acquiring a player at a very good age and at the same time a modern midfielder with excellent physical parameters. Such footballers are very valuable and rare these days. I believe that Rahim will confirm his quality and potential, and will be an asset to the club in the future. We have signed a four-year contract with him.''
He netted 3 goals in 16 games across all competitions for AS Trenčín in this current 2024-25 campaign before switching camp to their top division rivals in this winter transfer window.
Rahim is yet to earn his cap with the Ghana Senior Men's National Team, the Black Stars on the international stage.
