Ghanaian centre-back Daniel Theophilus Asiedu has joined Swiss Super League side FC Basel 1893 on a one-year deal with an option of extension to three years after its expiration in the summer of 2026, the club have confirmed.
The promising defender is joining up with the St. Jakob-Park outfit from Ghanaian elite division side Berekum Chelsea after excelling in his trial sessions in January 2024.
After suffering from an old cruciate ligament tear during his time in Basel, the left-footed stopper is now on the verge of recuperating fully following his rehabilitation process.
An excerpt of an official confirmation over the capturing of the 20-year-old read via the club's official website: ''FC Basel 1893 is strengthening its defense with Daniel Theophilus Asiedu. The 20-year-old Ghanaian is joining from Berekum Chelsea FC and has signed a contract until summer 2026 with an option for a further three years.''
Asiedu will first be drafted into the U21 youth side after which he will then be integrated into the first team when he finally recover fully from his injury setback in the upcoming days.
