The Asian outfit have announced the signing of the experienced Ghanian defender on a free transfer deal

Ghanaian international defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh has joined Indonesian Liga 1 side PSS Sleman, the club have confirmed.

The 32-year-old right-back is joining the Maguwoharjo Stadium outfit on a free transfer deal after severing ties with Swedish Allsvanskan side Halmstads BK this summer.

An excerpt of a statement confirming the deal of the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender read; "The enthusiasm of PSS Sleman management in the player transfer market for the BRI Liga 1-2024/2025 competition season continues to be vibrant. PSS has officially brought in new strength in the wing-back sector by presenting Philemon Ofosu-Ayeh."

He had this to tell his club's official website right after putting pen to paper; '"I am very happy to join the PSS team. I have heard many good things about PSS from foreign players who play in the Indonesian League. The warm welcome from everyone at PSS that I have met so far has been very friendly and welcoming. I am very happy to be here."

"Indonesian football culture is definitely more passionate, the stadiums are packed here. In Sweden it's quite quiet, people follow football but the energy is different compared to Indonesia."

"I only watch Indonesian football on the internet so I haven't experienced it directly. Moreover, I haven't trained and played so everything is new to me. I'm looking forward to seeing what his initial performance will be like."

“My goal is to help the team in every way possible. The most important thing is to start the season well and then we take the best steps. My desire is to take the Eagles so I always look up."

The German-born Ghanaian right-back has so far earned one cap for Ghana at the international level after switching national allegiance and represented the West African powerhouse in 2015.
