The 24-year-old defender has penned a fresh term with the English top-flight campaigners, with his new deal set to come to a close in 2026

Ghanaian international right-back Tariq Lamptey has signed a one-year contract extension with Premier League side Brighton, the club have confirmed.

The former Chelsea man, who was strongly linked with a move away from the Falmer Stadium outfit in this summer, will now be with his current employers for the 2025-26 campaign.

An official confirmation over the new deal of the ex-Porto loanee read: ''Defender Tariq Lamptey has agreed a one-year contract extension with Albion.The 24-year-old Ghana international made his Albion debut in 2020 and has made 122 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing 12 assist.''

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler tells his club's official website right after tying down his trusted defender to a fresh term: ''We’re delighted Tariq is staying with us. He wants to help the team achieve our targets and gives us great options in wide areas.“We are looking forward to Tariq being part of our journey next season.''

He was involved in 20 games by netting 3 and assisted 2 for Brighton across all competitions in the recently concluded football season.

The England-born lateral defender is currently boasting of 8 caps with the Ghana Senior Men's National Team at the international level since switching nationality allegiance to represent the four-time African champions in 2022.
