Nigeria champions Rivers United have officially completed the transfer of goalkeeper Mutawakilu Seidu from Enugu Rangers on a two-year deal with the option of a further year, subject to their performance in the CAF Champions League next season.

The Ghanaian is one of the greatest safest-pair-of-hands of his generation in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), having enjoyed years of success with the Flying Antelopes while also representing the Ghana U-20 team at the 2015 African U-20 Championship in Senegal and the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in that same year.

In April 2017, the former Asante Kotoko SC, Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC (loan) goalkeeper joined seven-time Nigeria Premier League Champions Enugu Rangers on a two-year deal.

Seidu made 22 league appearances for Rangers in the 2021-22 NPFL where he conceded 20 goals and kept 10 clean sheets to make the season unforgettable.
