The 23-year-old defender of Ghanaian heritage has completed his transfer move to the Swedish newly-promoted elite division side in this ongoing transfer window

Swedish-born Ghanaian centre-back Leon Hien  has joined newly-promoted Allsvenskan side Degerfors IF on a two-year deal from Norwegian club Odds BK, the club have confirmed.

The former Hammarby youth star is joining the Stora Valla Stadium campaigners ahead of the 2025-26 football season in the Swedish top-flight.

An excerpt of a statement over the capturing of the Ghanaian stopper read via the club's official website: ''Degerfors IF signs 23-year-old centre-back Leon Hien from Norwegian club Odds BK. The club and Leon have agreed on a contract that runs until 2027.''

Assistant sporting director Sean Sabetkar commented on landing the 23-year-old: '' Leon is a player that we have followed for a long time and he is an explosive player with physical attributes that we see high potential in. Leon was retrained from striker to defender at a late age, which we can also see in the offensive game. A nice addition to us in Degerfors and we are happy to have Leon with us.''

Leon is the sibling of Italian giants Atalanta BC defender Isak Hien as both were born to a Swedish mother and Ghanaian father of Burkina Faso descent.

Given his Ghanaian root, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level, with his elderly brother Hien being cap-tied by the Swedish national team.
