Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil breathed a sigh of relief after netting twice in LA Galaxy’s 3-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday night.

The 27-year-old had gone three games without a goal but found his rhythm at Dignity Health Sports Park, scoring in the second half to power Galaxy to the win despite the side lurking in the 15th position with 12 points on the Western Conference table of the Major League Soccer (MLS).

“It's really important because I really needed this kind of momentum. I really needed these kinds of goals,” Paintsil said.

“I've been missing some chances that I need to score. But that's football, and sometimes you need to raise your head and focus on the next game and do what you have to do.”

Brazilian forward Matheus Nascimento opened the scoring before Paintsil added the second and third goals, respectively.

With form back on his side, Paintsil hopes this will continue as he is charged to keep working hard: “I sometimes feel a little bit disappointed in myself because of chances I need to score and these kinds of things. But I always tell myself, never to look down on myself and just keep focusing on the right part because in life there is no failure. There is all the learning part. So it's just a learning part for me to just focus and do what I enjoy and love to do as a footballer.”

Paintsil has contributed three goals and an assist across 14 matches this campaign.
