Real Madrid young defence Óscar Naasei Oppong could be handed a place in the squad for the club’s meeting with Villarreal over the weekend after impressing in training with the first team.

The Ghanaian defender has been called up to train with the senior side again, with his performances for the Castilla attracting the attention of manager José Mourinho.

The Portuguese gaffer has reportedly followed Naasei’s progress closely, having watched him in action for the youth side several times this season.

The 21-year-old has featured six times for Real Madrid Castilla so far this season, gaining valuable experience at the reserve-team level.

His latest first-team training opportunity could now lead to a place in the squad for the Villarreal fixture, although a final decision will depend on the manager, especially having only Antonio Rudiger as the active center-back available.

This potential call-up would represent another important step in the development of the lanky center-back as he continues to push to become a mainstay with the Real Madrid’s senior team.
