Spanish La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid are eyeing a shock summer deal for Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo, according to reports in Spain.
The English-born of Ghanaian midfielder has enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough season in the Premier League and has caught the eye of Europe’s elite.
Mainoo has outshone many of his Man Utd team-mates this term and scored his second goal of the campaign in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Spanish giants Real face replacing legendary figures Luka Modric and Toni Kroos - although they do have options to cover for their departures, including Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde
However, there are reports that Real could try to sign a young midfielder this summer and have monitored Mainoo’s progression into the United first team with a keen interest.
Real president Florentino Perez is said to find the prospect of signing Mainoo "very interesting".
