Ghanaian attacking midfielder Michael Baidoo continued his blistering performance for IF Elfsborg in the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League after scoring in their away defeat to Galatasaray on Wednesday afternoon.

IF Elfsborg suffered a 4-3 defeat to the Turkish Super Lig giants in match-day three of the Europa League at the Rams Global Stadium.

Galatasaray exercised their attacking muscles in the first half by scoring three goals courtesy goals from Mauro Icardi, Barış Alper Yılmaz, and an own goal from Isak Pettersson after failing to deal with an effort from Icardi in the 39th minute.

In the second half, IF Elfsborg piled up pressure on the back line of Galatasaray to commit mistakes, resulting in Niklas Hult's goal in the 52nd minute to reduce the deficit.

Baidoo registered his name on the score sheet for the Yellow and Black lads after electing himself to brilliantly convert a spot-kick awarded to them in the 65th minute of the game.

Turkish international Yunus Akgun made it 4-2 for the home side with his fine strike in the 83rd minute before Johan Larsson netted the third goal for IF Elfsborg, which wasn't enough to earn them a point at the Rams Global Stadium.

Baidoo was in action with his compatriot Terry Yegbe, while former Inter Allies forward Jalal Abdulai made a cameo appearance for IF Elfsborg when he was introduced in the 77th minute to replace Arber Zeneli.

Michael Baidoo nets his 15th goal of the season for IF Elfsborg

The former Ghana U20 star has now scored two goals in three Europa League appearances for IF Elfsborg in the ongoing campaign.

Baidoo has been incredible this season in IF Elfsborg colours, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Following his explosive performance in the Swedish Allsvenskan, Ghana coach Otto Addo handed him a call-up to the Black Stars and made his debut for the West African nations against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
