Medeama SC left-back, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu is very close to joining newly-promoted Egypt Premier League side Ghazl El Mahalla SC, per wide reports in the local media.

The 25-year-old once again delivered a standout performance for the Tarkwa-based club in their last season's CAF Champions League campaign as well as the Ghana Premier League.

Hamidu, made 19 appearances for Medeama SC in the league last season, scoring once and providing four assists.

His consistent outstanding performances has gotten him on the radar of the two most glamorous clubs in the Ghana; Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, who requested for his service.

However, the move was hijacked by Egyptian giants Zamalek SC who were keen on signing him but reports say their head coach Jose Gomes stopped the move. 

With this, the lanky lateral per speculations, is still in the North African country and is in advanced talks with the newbies Ghazl El Mahalla for a possible move which is very likely to be finalized by the close of the week.

Abdul Fatawu Hamidu's scintillating performances earned him some call-ups into the Black Stars in recent times where he debuted in a 3-1 win over Liberia in a friendly game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
