The Danish top-flight outfit were keen to reinforce their backline options with the 23-year-old defender, but ended up missing out on his services to the Romanian giants during the January transfer window

Ghanaian right-back Nana Antwi ditched Danish Superligaen side FC Copenhagen in favour of Romanian giants FC Steaua București, according to his representative Florian Vulturar.

The former LOSC Lille B loanee, who joined the Bucharest-based club during the January transfer window, was also on the radar of Hungarian top division side Ferencvaros.

With the keen interest expressed in him by the Danish heavyweights, the former FC Urartu Yerevan defender opted for a move to Romania and his agent has offered an explanation over his client's decision to head to the National Arena outfit, telling Orange Sport: "After the match against Farul (in the Conference League, ed.) I spoke to him and started to investigate FCSB. He knew a lot about the team and I think that influenced his decision. When you take his knowledge of the club into account, I think that helped to convince him."

He has struggled for form since moving to his current employers in the winter window, with 3 league game appearances being collected in the ongoing Romanian SuperLig contest so far this term.

Antwi is yet to earn his international cap with the men's senior national team, the Black Stars.
