Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng Gyabaa's season has ended after suffering a serious knee injury in the first game of the campaign for Albacete Balompie.
The former Black Meteors striker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the game against UD Las Palmas on Sunday in the Segunda opener.
After preliminary test, it was confirmed the player will be out for a long spell on the sidelines due to the setback.
The club's official statement reads: "The worst fears have been realized. Samu Obeng had to leave Sunday's match after an awkward moment with his left knee during the second half.
"After carrying out tests to assess the injury, the medical services of Albacete Balompié report that our '20' suffers a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his left leg, with meniscal involvement."
"Albacete Balompié wishes to send all its support, strength and affection to Obeng. We'll be with you every step of the way in every recovery session you do with us, and every day you get back on track is one day closer to seeing you back in the Albacete shirt, Samu," added the club.
This leaves Albacete with the task of finding a new forward with two weeks left in the summer transfer window.
Obeng joined Albacete in the second half of last season and instantly became a key figure for the club, scoring three goals.
