Ghanaian forward Jonathan Sowah was sent back to Dar es Salaam following a disciplinary incident at his club, Simba SC, just before their match against Tanzania Prisons on Sunday in Mbeya, reports from the team say.
Kickgh.com sources in Tanzania say Sowah allegedly refused instructions from the club’s fitness coach, who asked him to help carry team equipment despite not being named in the matchday squad. The incident reportedly caused tension in camp and was quickly reported to the coaching staff.
Head coach Steve Barker acted immediately and ordered Sowah to return to Dar es Salaam to meet with the clubs management. The striker is expected to discuss the matter with officials before a final decision is made about his place in the team.
Simba, who won the game 2-0 over Tanzania Prisons on Sunday, will decide whether Sowah can rejoin the team in Zanzibar or face further punishment after the outcome of the meeting.
