Ludogorets Razgrad forward Bernard Tekpetey has voiced his frustration at his continuous exclusion from the Black Stars.

The workaholic defensive slayer's performance for the Bulgarian club have gone unnoticed by the Black Stars as technical handlers of the team  constantly keep overlooking him.

Tekpetey has not been called for international duties since 2017, having represented Ghana's national team at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

He told Asempa FM he is ‘very disappointed’ at his persistent omission and claims he sometimes compares the players' handed call-up to himself.

“Sometimes it hurts because, as a player, you know you are playing your best at the highest level,” said Tekpetey.

“Sometimes you are tempted to compare the players called to the national team to yourself. However, I feel it is the decision of the coach to call players who he thinks will suit his plan.”

Tekpetey who has previously featured for the likes of Schalke 04, SC Paderborn and Fortuna Düsseldorf is currently recovering from an injury he sustained during a match against Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League qualifying round.

In the 2023/24 Bulgaria top-flight season, Tekpetey notched 15 goals and made 10 assists in all competitions for Ludogorets.
