Atletico Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Ghanaian international defender, Mohammed Salisu, in the upcoming summer transfer window, potentially marking his return to La Liga.
Salisu, who recently turned 24 years old, is keen to leave Southampton at the end of the season, particularly as the team risks being relegated. The defender has been linked with wanting to play Champions League football and Atletico Madrid may be the perfect destination for him.
Although Salisu still has over a year left on his Southampton contract, his agent is believed to be in discussions with the Rojiblancos about a potential move.
Despite starting the current season strongly, Salisu has been plagued by injuries and has only played in one of the last seven games for Southampton.
After joining the English Premier League side from Real Valladolid in 2020, Salisu has become a key player for Southampton and is considered one of the best defenders in the league.
