German winger Jamie Leweling has opened up about his choice to represent Germany instead of Ghana, despite being eligible for both nations.
Born to a German mother and a Ghanaian father, the VfB Stuttgart star made his international debut for Germany on October 14, 2024, scoring the decisive goal in their 1-0 UEFA Nations League victory over the Netherlands.
This landmark moment came four years after Leweling declined an invitation to join the Black Stars of Ghana. When asked about his decision, Leweling stated simply, "Because I was born and grew up here. I am German!"
Reflecting on his debut, Leweling admitted he felt some nerves but was overjoyed to help his team secure a vital win.
