Swiss Super League side FC Zürich have announced that they have terminated the contract of Ghanaian international Daniel Afriyie Barnieh after just two seasons with the club.
The 24-year-old joined the Zürich-based club on a three-year deal prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 season but has had the final year of his contract abrogated mainly due to poor performance.
Official club statement on Facebook reads;“Contract dismissal Daniel Afriyie. FC Zurich announce that Ghanaian striker Daniel Afriyie is leaving the city club. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement. “FC Zürich thanks Daniel Afriyie for his dedication and wishes him all the best for the future!”
The ex- Hearts of Oak attacker got off to a great start at the Letzigrund and was with the senior team throughout his first season but was demoted to the youth side of FC Zürich in the whole of his second season where he still struggled to find his form reason behind the mutual termination of his contract
He netted 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 57 matches across all competitions for both the senior team and the youth side.
Daniel Afriyie is currently in Ghana for holidays and his next move hasn’t been communicated yet.
