Black Stars defender, Tariq Lamptey has began pre-season training with his Brighton and Hove Albion teammates ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 English Premier League season.
Lamptey had been sidelined since March due to a knee injury he sustained during a league match against West Ham, which forced him to miss the rest of the previous season.
The absence of the talented right-back was keenly felt by both his club and the Ghana national team. Lamptey was unable to participate in the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola in March.
Lamptey was replaced by Kingsley Schindler, a German-born player, as chosen by Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.
Furthermore, Lamptey's recovery journey also caused him to miss Ghana's AFCON qualifier against Madagascar on June 18, 2023, in Antananarivo.
Nevertheless, his return to training indicates a positive step forward in his rehabilitation process.
In the 2022/23 season, Lamptey made 23 appearances across various competitions but only managed to score once.
