English-born Ghanaian international, Tariq Lamptey has described their FA Cup win over Chelsea last Saturday as a big win and also showered praises on teammate Karou Mitoma.
The Seagulls put up a stupendous performance to edge the Blues by 2-1 to advance into the next round of the Emirates Cup last Saturday at the AMEX.
An early own goal awarded against Dutch goalie Bart Verbruggen gave Chelsea the lead but two subsequent goals in each half from Georginio Rutter and Japanese international Karou Mitoma handed the homesters the precious win to sail through.
Tariq Lamptey made the starting line up and really justified himself as to why he deserves more minutes and his outstanding performance saw him win the player of the match after full time.
The 24-year-old might looked very smallish in nature but signified how stronger he could be having emerged as the player with the most tackles and duels won and also with the most dribbles in the game.
Speaking in a post-match interview, the versatile lateral praised their fighting spirit and is very much excited with the victory.
"It’s a great win, big performance from the boys. The crowd is buzzing, so we're happy," he said in the post-match interview.
“These things happen in football, so it's good that everyone rallied round and showed the fighting spirit. We showed we are all together and worked hard to turn it around," he added.
Tariq Lamptey has three goals and two assists in all competitions and did these stats in just 14 matches and is looking forward to getting more from now till the end of the campaign.
He will definitely make coach Otto Addo's squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar next month should he continue with similar performances in their upcoming games.
