Ghanaian prodigy Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is brimming with excitement following his transition to English Championship side Leicester City FC from Sporting Lisbon.
The budding Ghanaian international has officially joined the Foxes on a season-long loan agreement from the renowned Portuguese club, and he will remain with the team for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign.
Expressing his sentiments, Fatawu conveyed his elation about the move to Leicester. He expressed his joy about being in England and described the club as an ideal fit for him.
Fatawu shared his feelings, stating: “I’m so happy. This is an amazing moment for me, I’m happy to be here. For me, from looking at Leicester and how I felt about the coach, here is the best place for me.
He continued, underscoring his reasons for choosing Leicester: “This was the best moment for me to join Leicester. I chose them because I think they can grow me and help me mature. [Enzo Maresca] told me about the plans he has for me and how he wants me to play – how he wants to help me in my football.”
Fatawu had previously achieved international success in March 2021 when he played a pivotal role in helping Ghana’s Under-20 team secure victory in the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations. This accomplishment earned him the title of player of the tournament.
At the senior level, he has already represented his country in 14 matches and participated in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.
