Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has become Leicester City's eighth signing of the summer, marking a significant addition to the squad.

The 19-year-old, highly regarded for his talents, has made the move from Sporting Lisbon.

In a deal that is structured as a season-long loan from the Portuguese club, Fatawu has formally agreed to the arrangement. Reports indicate that Leicester City has secured an option to potentially make the transfer permanent at the conclusion of the loan period, in the following summer.

This acquisition elevates Enzo Maresca's tally to eight signings during the summer transfer window. Fatawu joins the ranks of new arrivals, including Harry Winks, Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen, Stephy Mavididi, Cesare Casadei, and Yunus Akgun. The addition of Fatawu further bolsters the club's wide options.

Throughout the current season, Leicester City has been relying on academy graduates Wanya Marcal and Kasey McAteer for the right-wing position. Stephy Mavididi, a recent signing, has been taking up duties on the left. Notably, Marcal found the net for the first time in the club's recent 2-1 victory over Cardiff City, while McAteer secured both goals in the team's 2-1 win against Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

With the inclusion of Fatawu, Leicester City will have another layer of choices for these positions. Fatawu boasts experience from his appearances in both the Champions League and the Europa League for Sporting Lisbon during the previous season. He also had the distinction of being part of Ghana's squad for the World Cup in Qatar last year.

Fatawu's transfer aligns with a period of anticipated activity for Leicester City, as they work to finalize deals before the impending deadline. Clubs have until 11 pm on Friday, September 1, to conclude any transfer business.
