Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has provided update on Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey's injury and revealed he hasn't fully recovered and is yet to join his teammates at training.
The 29-year-old midfielder has been out of action since October and his last game was against Arsenal, and also against Mexico in an international friendly.
Footages of Partey training intensively at gym popped up last week and gave Ghanaians some level of hope that he will be ready for the 2023 AFCON.
With this, coach Chris Hughton also included him in his provisional squad with the firm believe he will be fully ready and available before the new year begins.
However, Mikel Arteta ahead of their game against Liverpool this mid-afternoon, has confirmed Partey isn't fully fit and is still in his recovery process and hasn't joined the rest of the group at training yet.
"Thomas Partey is still finalising his rehab. He still hasn't trained with the team yet. Mo Elneny will hopefully join us this afternoon to see how he feels about it. For the rest, no news. Jorginho is still a doubt," he said.
The mercurial midfielder will hope to bounce back as quick as possible and stronger as he hopes to make his fourth AFCON appearance next year.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for January 13, 2024, in Cote D'Ivoire.
