The North London-based club has hijacked the 26-year-old centre-back's move to Wolves by reaching an agreement with RC Lens over his acquisition ahead of the closure of the winter transfer window.
Austrian-born of Ghanaian descent Kevin Danso is set to complete a sensational move to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur after turning down a loan switch to Wolves.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with RC Lens to secure the signature of Kevin Danso in a permanent transfer.
Personal terms are in place on a five-and-a-half-year deal, and a medical has been completed ahead of a €25 million (£20.9 million, $25.9 million) deal that will take the Austrian international to north London.
Agreements were previously reached for the 26-year-old to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, and he was scheduled to undergo a medical on Sunday.
But Danso’s representatives informed the Molineux club on Saturday night that they would not be proceeding with the move amid interest from Spurs.
Danso, who played 10 times on loan at Southampton in 2019-20, made 128 appearances for Lens over four seasons.
Tottenham have been keen for reinforcements in several areas amid an injury crisis that has seen a number of key first-team players sidelined.
In defense alone, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin, and Destiny Udogie have all missed multiple games.
Danso had already been linked with a number of sides across Europe, including Juventus, Rennes, and Aston Villa.
Danso is not new to the English Premier League after having a loan stint with Southampton during the 2019-20 football season.
He has so far featured in 12 league games for RC Lens in this current French Ligue 1 2024-25 football campaign.
Born and raised to Ghanaian parents in Austria, Danso remains ineligible to represent Ghana at the international level as he's been cap-tied by the Austrian senior national team.
