The much-anticipated 2022/23 Ashanti Regional Division Two Promotional tournament got underway earlier today at the Baba Yara Stadium with some exciting and entertaining highlights produced after day one.
Benab FC started off the day with a very difficult opposition against impressive Mahala Academy and nearly had their thirteen-game winning streak halted but a late close range tap-in from Taylor earned them all three points to set off a brighter start.
The win is their first in Middle League opening day, having lost to Future Stars and Ebony FC in the previous two years.
In the second game of the day, high-flying PAC Academy nipped on goals from Charles Owusu and substitute Emmanuel Mintakwah to edge out zone one champions Royal Kumapem FC by 2-1.
It was a five-goal thriller in the last game of the day where Jachie United came from a goal down to beat zone six winners Kumasi Academicals- in an epic clash that left the supporters in complete raptures with high level of display.
Sadam Abdulai netted a sensational second half hatrick to secure the win for the Jachie-based side, whiles Issah Sumaila's penalty coupled with another from Abdallah Adam were the consolations for losing side.
It was really a cagey encounter and what a way it was to climax day one after last year runners up Pro Players Academy got stunned by First Klass FC with a narrow 1-0 loss- in a tough clash both teams ended with ten men.
