The 2023/24 Ashanti Regional Division Two promotional tournament commenced last Monday, May 6, with some exciting and entertaining matches produced on the first day at the usual venue- Baba Yara Stadium.
The is a mini-tourney organized for the champions of the various division two zones in the Ashanti Region with the ultimate winner securing qualification to the national first division championship.
Zone five champions Mid City FC kicked off the competition with a precious 2-1 win over Ashanti Lynx FC- who emerged as winners of zone seven.
In order games, Sasaamo Panin FC got held by Galaxy United to a pulsating 2-2 draw before Jachie United- who had the most points in the zonals, edged Longford SC by 1-2 to set off a brighter start to the competition.
The last game of the first group matches was between zone six conquerors Benab FC- who had their recent unbeaten run preserved but had to rely on a second half equaliser from Danger to secure a 1-1 draw against zone one winners Fast Track Academy- who have also been impressive in recent times.
The second round of matches are slated for Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
