The 2024 Ashanti Regional Male Inter-School and Colleges men soccer headed into the semi-final stage today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with intense battles unfolding between the competing teams.
In the first game, champions of the last two edition Simms SHS edged out Opoku Ware SHS with a hard-fought 1-0 victory to advance into their second final in the last three editions.
Meanwhile, Osei Kyeretwie SHS in the other semi final game, eliminated last season's finalists Sakafia SHS, winning 5-4 in a nail-biting penalty shootouts.
Despite Sakafia's dominance throughout the game, they failed to capitalize on their scoring opportunities which subsequently came back to hunt them in the lottery part of the game.
Below is the Semi-final Results:
- Simms SHS 1-0 Opoku Ware School
- Osei Kyeretwie SHS 0-0 Sakafia Islamic SHS
(Okess won 5-4 on penalties)
The final will be held tomorrow, December 4, with Simms SHS crossing swords with grand masters Osei Kyeretwie SHS for the ultimate and has got many asking whether it's going to be a repeat for the former or a revenge for the latter having met in the final last year where Simms SHS won via penalty shootouts to clinch their first ever title.
On the other hand, Sakafia Islamic SHS will battle Opoku Ware School for the bronze medal in the third-place playoff in a game that will serve as the curtain raiser for the main event.
