The remaining round of thirty-two (32) matches of the ongoing Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools boys soccer championship were in session earlier today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with some expected and surprised outcomes.
The first match saw Osei Tutu SHS, Akropong, took on Agona SDA, with the Abrempong Boys emerging victorious with a 2-0 win.
In the second match, Osei Tutu SHS, Tetrem and Prempeh College's game ended in a thrilling 1-1 stalemate at the end of regulation time. However, the 'Amanfo)' charges ultimately emerged victorious winning 4-3 in the penalty shootouts.
Obuasi SHTS progressed to the next stage after defeating Bosome SHTS 5-4 in a penalty shootouts in the third game of the day. The match itself ended in a goalless 0-0 draw.
Osei Kyeretwie SHS had an early scare from Asare Bediako SHS, but the most successful school in the competition bounced back resolutely to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory after full time.
In a stunning upset, Jacobu SHS pulled off a major shock by defeating two-time champions Kumasi High School 4-2, also via penalty shootouts, after the match had ended in a goalless draw in regulation time.
Contrary to expectations, Aduman SHS triumphed over Our Lady of Grace SHS with a 1-2 victory in the sixth match of the day, securing their spot in the next round.
Asanteman SHS secured their spot in the next stage with a convincing 2-0 victory over Apagya SHS.
In the final match of the day, high-flying Sakafia SHS, the runners-up, edged out their opponents in a nail-biting penalty shootout, winning 6-5 to advance to the next stage.
