The 2024 edition of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools and Colleges boys soccer competition will officially commence on Wednesday, November 27, with Mankranso SHS facing Dadease Agric SHS in the opening game, at the usual Baba Yara Stadium
The qualifying series of the competition was honoured last week at different centers with over 120 schools and as expected, all the giants booked a spot in the main competition with some few upsets produced.
Reigning champions Kumasi Anglican SHS defeated Sakafia SHS by 1-0 in a very thrilling final to emerge champions last year and that marked their fifth title.
The Disciples again had an impressive run in the qualifiers and their title defense and also quest to their sixth glory starts with Kurofa Methodist SHS.
Last year runners up Sakafia Islamic SHS recorded a hundred percent record in the qualifiers last week and will take on T.I AMASS, Fomena in their tournament opener, with grand masters Osei Kyeretwie SHS also crossing swords with Asare Bediako SHS.
T.I AMASS, Kumasi, will play Mpasatia Secondary Technical, Prempeh College will butt heads with Osei Tutu SHS, Tetrem while Opoku Ware School also take on New Edubiase SHS - all in the first knockout round of the competition.
Surprisingly, 2016 finalists Islamic SHS will be missing out having failed to secure qualification and this is going to be the first time in ten years.
The first round (round 32) is slated for this Wednesday and Thursday, November 27 and 28, 2024.
