Ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools and Colleges Boys Soccer Competition, former Ghana U20 captain, Zubairu Ibrahim, has made a generous donation to his alma mater, Sakafia Islamic Senior High School following their impressive qualification run and has promised more should they achieve the ultimate.
In a remarkable display of philanthropy, Zubairu, presented a substantial sum of GHC5,000 to his alma mater, in celebration of their qualification for the upcoming elite school's championship in the region.
In a bid to further motivate the team, Zubairu has made a tantalizing pledge that; should Sakafia Islamic Senior High School serge on to emerge victorious in the main tournament, he will this time present them double of the amount he gave out after flourishing in the qualifying series.
In a heartbreaking final, Sakafia Islamic Senior High School suffered a narrow and painful 1-0 defeat to giants Kumasi Anglican SHS in the last edition and will definitely have their sights on nothing but the title this time around.
The 20-year-old prolific forward left an indelible mark in the 2018 Ashanti Regional Top 8 Tournament, having netted a decisive goal in the final against T.I Ahmadiyyah SHS (Real AMASS) as Sakafia SHS secured a resounding 2-0 victory in the end ro claim their first-ever silverware.
Having cut his teeth with Ghanaian second-tier side King Faisal - then in the Ghana Premier League, Zubairu now plies his trade with Serbian heavyweights FK Partizan Belgrade.
In the ongoing season, he has made 12 appearances, impressing with 4 goals and 3 assists in the Serbian topflight.
The competition is slated for Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the usual Baba Yara Stadium.
