Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford has expressed his excitement ahead of the 2024 Homowo Cup clash against Hearts of Oak.

The ceremonial match, set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 11, 2024, will see the two teams compete for the coveted trophy as they prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 football season.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Hayford shared his enthusiasm not only for the match but also for the chance to reunite with the Gbese Mantse, a longtime friend.

"We are playing against Hearts of Oak for the Homowo Cup, and I am delighted," Hayford said. "Nana has been a good friend for a long time, but we haven’t met in quite a while, so I knew this match would be a great opportunity to reconnect with him."

Hayford also highlighted his history with Hearts of Oak and the significance of facing them once again. "Nana knows my record when it comes to playing Hearts of Oak. I’m thrilled to be meeting such a prestigious club for this important cup, and we have prepared very well for the match."

He added, "Beyond the competition, we want fans to come to the stadium and enjoy a beautiful game. We’re going to put on a show that will thrill the supporters, and they will leave happy with the occasion."
