Frederick Asare, Asante Kotoko's goalkeeper, has once again secured his spot in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) doubleheader against Sudan.

Ghana coach Otto Addo revealed the squad on Friday, October 4, at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with Asare maintaining his place after earning the trust of the technical team. The Black Stars are set to open camp on Monday, October 7, ahead of the crucial fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rescheduled the matchdays, moving the AFCON qualifiers from the original dates of October 11 and 14 to Thursday, October 10, and Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Ghana will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, while the return match will take place in Benina, Libya, on October 15.

The Black Stars, currently third in Group F with just one point, are still searching for their first win in the qualifiers. Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola and drew 1-1 with Niger in their previous matches, making these games against Sudan crucial for their qualification hopes.
