Nations FC captain, Razak Simpson had an impressive debut for the Black Stars but unfortunately got held by Angola to a pulsating 1-1 draw in match-day five of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Estadio 11 de Novembro.
The 26-year-old was handed his first ever Black Stars invite last week as part of the only three local players to have made the list after Isaac Afful and Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi.
His outstanding and convincing display at training earned him the starting berth in this game where he serged on to last the entire duration on his debut.
The Black Stars opened the scoring account through Jordan Ayew's well-taken free kick in the 17th minute but was subsequently equalized by Zini in the 64th minute to split the points.
The draw wasn't enough as the Black Stars won't qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next year - missing out for the first time since 2004.
Ghana will face Niger in their final group game on Monday, November 18, at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
